Can you facilitate the governance integration of producers of portable batteries and electric bikes and their batteries within OPEN to achieve the objectives set forth in the Batteries Regulation?

Approach

Starting in 2024, the EPR producer organization Stichting OPEN will embody the extended producer responsibility on behalf of producers of portable batteries (SB) and electric bikes and their batteries (EPAC), united in the Stichting Batterijen Federatie Nederland (SBFN). We will facilitate the governance integration of SBFN, SB, and EPAC within OPEN to accomplish the goals set forth by the Batteries Regulation, aiming for an efficient and complete material reuse.

Revising statutes, closing agreements and preparing meetings.

Support for OPEN Administration

The board of Stichting OPEN consists of directors appointed by producers of electric appliances, lamps, batteries, and bike batteries. The board makes decisions on OPEN's strategy and financial framework. We will prepare substantive discussions for board meetings, including coordination with directors and networks from other product foundations.

Connection between SBFN, SB, EPAC and OPEN

Substantive alignment with OPEN and structuring how OPEN implements producer responsibility for portable batteries and bike batteries. This includes preparing service agreements between EPAC, SB, and OPEN, as well as establishing strategic projects.

Outcome

By 2024, the transition for the producers of portable batteries, electric bikes, and their batteries to SBFN will be established, and the governance integration of SBFN within OPEN will be completed. For 2025, strategic projects will be initiated to achieve the objectives set out in the Batteries Regulation.
